On Monday, 17th of March 2025, a training seminar was held by the LIFE IGIC project (www.lifeigic.eu)) at the Natural History Museum of Crete, focusing on “Olive Orchards, Green Infrastructure, and Olive Tourism/Oleotourism.”
The seminar included presentations on the project’s actions and findings and provided information to tourism stakeholders and other interested parties, regarding the benefits of green infrastructure in olive orchards and the contribution of green infrastructure in the oleotourism.
Participants received educational training on the ecosystem services provided by green infrastructure in olive orchards, as well as on the key flora and fauna species, that contribute to these benefits.
The potential of olive orchards with green infrastructure (High Nature Value Olive Orchards) to be integrated into oleotourism activities which may include visits to the olive orchards, olive mills, and sites of historical and cultural importance was discussed.
